strong people are weak too. they're human. so when you see them down, let them shed the tears. let them let their guard down and just give them time to heal and recover. then let them find their feet because when they do, they'll rise and they'll be even greater than before... then you'll start to think, "how the hell did she/he do that?".

| day off madness |
[16 Nov 2009|04:45pm] |
for some reason...
every time it's my day off... IT'S SUPER HOT! AS IN! instead of me relaxing and basking under the sun, i end up burning under the sun. it's so hot.... and the wind's hot too.
i went to the city today. i went to The Rocks to submit my papers to the hotel. ok sana kasi nice the day. ang init lang. and sana i wore a dress. i had to wear something presentable kasi i was going nga to the hotel. maaaannn.... i want to swim....

| love at it's purest |
[20 Oct 2009|01:31pm] |
every time i see them, i'm just amazed.
the couple next to us, our neighbors, are around their 70-80's. somewhere there. i just know their age but they're really old. their names are Fred and Margaret. Margaret is now too old to walk (i guess) so she sits in her wheelchair ever so quiet. i've never heard her talk but she tries to send a smile when she sees me. it's always Fred that greets me when i come home early or when it's my day off and i see them leaving their villa or just arriving. i see them through my window since the view is directly at the entrance of our villas.
every day, Fred takes out Margaret around 2-3pm and pushes her wheelchair to the river walk, the park, or to the grocery. he does this so that Margaret can get fresh air and some sunlight on her skin. but going to any of those places, you'll have to pass a small hill. for us, it would be an easy climb or a fun walk down. but for Fred, controlling his weight and strength as to not let go of Margaret going down that hill amazes me. he walks ever so slowly to make sure both of them are safe. the more he shows this unconditional love is the way back up where he has to push Margaret back to the top of the hill going back home. they do this routine EVERY SINGLE DAY.
this is love at it's purest.
he could've just left her at home. he could've just opened the window for some sun to hit her face. he could've just ordered their groceries online. he could've just opted to rest at home as well.
but he didn't.
so everyday, i am reminded of how love is so great. knowing that there is a love like that is simply amazing. everyday i see love in Fred and Margaret's daily walk for fresh air.
and oh... i forgot. he never forgets to kiss her forehead before saying, "let's go for a walk, dear" even though he knows he won't be getting a response.

sometimes, when you're not sure of something, ask or just be cautious of what you say or do. you'll never know what's important to someone else. so when something bad happens and they do react in ways you don't understand, well that's cause you didn't know. don't even judge them for overreacting. that's the problem.
YOU DIDN'T KNOW.
the worst part is, you'll try to make that an excuse... "i didn't know kasi eh." how lame.
newsflash. not an excuse.
dalawang araw ko yun pinaghirapan. i spent almost 4k for it. BECAUSE IT WAS IMPORTANT TO ME. ang tagal kong ginustong magkaganon. ang tagal kong nagpaplano just in case it could happen. the least you could've done was say thank you. but no. you had to make it seem like it didn't happen at all. on my part at least.
how selfish.
i'm just apathetic for you right now.

| baby ben :) |
[03 Feb 2009|09:55am] |
My sister just gave birth to her second child, a son. His name is Benjamin Matthew and his nickname is Baby Ben. actually, jan 18 pa siya nanganak. i just forgot to "post" this post. it was saved in the draft part. hahhaa. so anyways.
I'm the ninang. hehehe.
ang bango-bango niya. as in when he yawns and you smell his mouth, he smells like sweet milk (milk ang sugar with baby powder scent pa). his cheeks are so full pa. you know how some newborns are wrinkled and old-looking when they come out of their moms? well, he was just round and plump. hahaha. how cute.
he was a bit yellow so he was placed in the incubator for a short while. now we're all at home. he's having morning sunbathing sessions so that he won't turn yellow anymore. so that his blood heats up also. if not, he'd have to go through 24 hours under the blue light in the hospital. kawawa naman. he won't feel pa the touch of his mom.
i'm soooo nanggigigil. as in i want to chew him and embrace him hard. i want na nga to throw him up and down eh. hahaha.

my gawd. people love hitting me nowadays. as in injured na ako.
yesterday, i was playing with andie. mom was scaring andie so she "climbed" to me. on her way up, she punched my boob. hay... masakit.
yesterday also, when mom was scaring andie, i was aiding andie's back. and... well, nasiko niya ko. natakot kasi siya so mega movement naman ng katawan niya. so there. injured because of a 2-yr old.
a while ago, i was reaching for the control. i was at Carl's room. nagulat siya na i moved to na-siko ulit ako. on the same spot. solid. as in everything went black and everything was spinning. naturally, i fell to my back. i woke up seeing carlo holding my nose bridge saying "unggoy, sorry na. wake up. wake up please." hahahaha. yeah. i tasted a little blood but i had to stay put. if i stood up, i might have had a nosebleed talaga. so i stayed put.
haaaaaaaaaayyyyyy.... accident prone. i hope this doesn't happen the whole year. january pa naman.

| foie gras for lunch |
[21 Dec 2006|01:17am] |
|
last chrismas, carl gave me a block of foie gras (canned) from france. he wanted me to cook it and we'd eat it together. i asked the supplier how long canned foie gras stays, the supplier said 3 years. so anyways. i was hesitant to cook it last year since i wasn't so sure how to cook foie gras. i never cooked it, period. i told him, "i'll cook it when i know how to cook it na. sayang lang your money if i waste it."
last last week, in poultry and meat cookery laboratory, chef jen told me to cook the whole pack of fresh foie gras for the class. i told her i didn't know how. she said, "i know you've eaten this, luzee. just think of how you liked it while eating it then put it into cooking. you'll do fine." so as i held the P3,000++ pack in my hand, she yelled to the class, "if anyone wants to learn how to cook foie gras, go to luzee. she'll teach you."..................................... 15 minutes later, we were eating happily. with a "good job luzee"
so anyways, carl came here yesterday. as i promised, i cooked the foie gras. i served it with an orange glaze sauce, some toasted walnuts, wedges of infused camembert cheese (also from france), and some sliced fresh apples. carl enjoyed it. at least i know his savings didn't go to waste. :)

things that i hate the most: - the feeling of having your period in a VERY humid day - when people poke you with one finger to ask you something when they know your name - people coming 1 hour after the said meeting time - the feeling of cold sweat when your going to get sick - not having enough sleep but still working the next day - people not understanding how tiring it is to be a C.A. student - mixing savory food with dessert food in on plate. yung parang sa mga fiesta. - people who tap their pencils/ballpens when they think in exams - when people ask "nagpahaircut ka?" instead of saying something like "nice haircut!" - repeating myself more than once - when people borrow my things without asking permission - hearing people talk about me like they know me so well - hearing people criticize celebrities' personalities when they haven't even met them - the feeling of having to go to the bathroom for number 2 but you can't find a decent "CLEAN" bathroom - eating retreat house food - not being able to buy nice shoes because there's no size available - sales ladies saying, "ma'am, wala po kaming size" when you haven't even asked - people touching my face... touch your own - people who've found their new "personalities" and diss out their old friends - when people don't understand you in the morning that "you're not yet awake"... gaguhin mo na ang lasing, wag lang ang bagong gising

carl and i were going to world trade center to buy some things for his family. we made a u-turn and a policeman stopped us and made us stop by the side. this is what happened:
mamang pulis(mp): sir! one way po itong pinasukan niyo carl: hah? eh wala namang nakasabi eh mp: ayun po sir oh. dalawa pa nga ang senyas na one way 'to. (he points to the signages) (carlo and luzee look back and squint their eyes to find the signs.

| "a different blend" |
[11 Dec 2006|02:28pm] |
we had our filcui2 (filipino cuisine lab) finals today. it was a fusion function na "hell's kitchen" type. chef kim was the dispatcher. i was randomly chosen to be in the service crew (with dave, kuja, and alvin). HAAAAYYY!!!! TALK ABOUT STRESS AND FUN AT THE SAME TIME!!!!
it was very stressful..... why? because the function room was far from the ktichen. it was about 4 classrooms away. haaayyy... ang bibigat pa ng plates and mainit pa yung plates ah. i had naman a walkie talkie to contact chef regarding the plates and all, which guests were ready for which courses. we servers had one table each to watch and take orders from but we had to serve everyone. nakakalito pa kasi kuja messed up the seat numbers. hahahahaha!!!!!!! classic... i actually don't know how to make the whole day kwento kasi ang daming nangyari. haha
mom and dad went and i think they enjoyed it naman. there were 2 menus to choose from, menu A or B. para they're not bias. so anyways, mostly everyone got one menu A, our menu, and the other guests tried out menu B. then the guests would have to answer an evaluation card regarding the extent of "fusion" there was into the dishes served. our menu was japanese inspired and the other time was italian-french inspired.
anyway, i just realized that i did not sit down from 730am to 3pm. AHHNG SAKIT NG MGA BINTI KO!!!!! my legs started cramping up na. good na lang i got to buy the santis clogs the day before. if i had worn my other clogs, ay good lord. good luck na lang.
so there. that was fun. id love to do that again. i'm going to be nice to waiters from now on. and i'm proud na wala sa amin ang napagalitan ng customer. hahahahhahahaa
funnnnnnnn.

mom: ang galing naman! direcho from the camera tapos may picture ka na. luzee: yeah noh! that's why i love netopia! mom: ang galing oh! klarong klaro pa yung colors. luzee: um... yeah. galing noh!? mom: galing naman this machine! what is it? how much is this machine? luzee: WAAHAHAHAHAH!!! How To Save A Life The Fray
Step one you say we need to talk He walks you say sit down it's just a talk He smiles politely back at you You stare politely right on through Some sort of window to your right As he goes left and you stay right Between the lines of fear and blame And you begin to wonder why you came
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life
Let him know that you know best Cause after all you do know best Try to slip past his defense Without granting innocence Lay down a list of what is wrong The things you've told him all along And pray to God he hears you And pray to God he hears you
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life
As he begins to raise his voice You lower yours and grant him one last choice Drive until you lose the road Or break with the ones you've followed He will do one of two things He will admit to everything Or he'll say he's just not the same And you'll begin to wonder why you came
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life

yehey!!! the 17th YHE just ended and i only joined 2 events: the High Tea Function Competition and the Market Basket Competition. in the High Tea Function Competition, we landed 1st place. to think we were the "underdog". hahahahaha... there were 7 groups of 8 members each. 4 of which had to do set-up of the function while the other 4 had to do the food (ako yun!!!). heheheh it went well naman. we made caprese on crostinis, shrimp and mango on crab and avocado, potato skins with prosciutto-cheese roulade with melon and alfalfa sprouts, fresh fruit tarts on tuile cones, mini chocolate cakes with creme chantilly, and english scones with cottage cheese and marmalade.
for the Market Basket Competition naman, we landed 2nd place. the 1st placers got 85% while we got 83%... super close fight. the 3rd place kasi got 79% na eh. anyways, we also won Best Appetizer and Best Main Course. for apps, we made a Tomato and Seafood Tatin. we served it with pistachio crusted scallops and a sauteed 5-spice prawn. for the main course naman, we made Chicken Purses with creamy red wine sauce and served it with flat couscous and sauteed sugar snap peas. HAY!!!! stress... but good stress. dito talaga ako napagod. OH! for dessert, we made a chocolate cake with creme anglaise and kiwi coulis. we didn't win the best dessert though. hehehe pero okay lang.
so anyways... this was an interesting YHE. i was part of the awards committee but i wasn't allowed to look at the results. hehe super strict nga now eh. ulitmong yung awards comm members, hindi alam.
this was a fun and tiring week.....
kassy- hehehe! good job hosting and judging!!!! nakasama mo pa si jose! hehehehehehe picture!
goyok- snob ka talaga forever.
carl- love you, baboy!
mom- you will forever be my biggest fan!!! thank you!

i'm having my "graduating" retreat today. it's an overnight retreat in silang, cavite. i'll be going with karen and keycee. dapat kasama si carl kaya lang hindi siya HRIM. hindi na raw allowed na "mix breed courses" yung retreats. anyways, i'm early as usual. i'm natatawa at how i'm so precise with estimating time but i always complain with how early i am. hahahahaha oh well... better than being late.
so what can i blab about?
oh yeah.... manang josie's getting married. yup. on january 27. for those who don't know, manang josie's been with us for 23 years. she started as the yaya of manay kringkring (how manay's 23 years old) then became my yaya and then carlo's yaya. when we found out she was getting married, the first thing that went into my and my brother's mind was... "magugutom na tayo. papayat na tayo." hahahaha syempre it's sad she's leaving but we really can't do anything about it. it's her life. they're teasing her nga in the province, "sosyal ni josie ah! ninong niya congressman, ninang niya taga-malacanang, tapos mga bisita niya taga-maynila!!!" hahahahhaa laughtrip. she went kasi to bicol for her sister's wedding and for nov1. when she went there, namanhikan na yung guy and they signed na church papers. hahahaah walang takas talaga eh. and get this. the guy's family is having a house built na for them.
haaaayyy buhaaaayyy.... now how will we know where everything around the house is? what??? again. manang josie is the only one who really knows the house. we're scared that when she leaves, we'll look stupid not knowing anything about the place we call home. she's also our instant alarm clock. oh god. get ready late slips. she's also our "palusot".... "manang josie, tell mom i went home at 11pm ah."... "manang josie, if anyone calls, tell them i'm sleeping."... "mamang josie, kunwari i'm on a diet ah."
as i was making this kwento to carlo juco, siya pa yung naiyak. hahahahhaaha!!!!! he said, "ano ba yan? bakit ang bilis??? 23 years na siya sayo tapos 2 weeks lang, nakuha na ng lalaking yun si manang josie? wala man lang transition period? 2 years nga lang sina tito leo sa amin, iyak na ako ng iyak eh. sige, uumpisahan ko na iyak ko for manang josie. hindi ka ba naiiyak???? anoba???" hehe of course i was naiiyak. but oh well. life goes on.
i'm going to miss her terribly.

kel and i are groupmates in seacoo. we do things well together. almost all the time actually. the meeting after the midterm exam, chef calls us to his table and this is what happens:
chef gino: i'm going to separate the two of you. kel and luzee: HAH?!?!?! WHY?!?!! chef: you two are such strong people. strong as chefs alone and a lot more stronger as a team. i've seen you perform and you're very good. the other groups need help. especiall group 2 (we're group 3). kel: sino papalit? luzee: wag na lang chef... please chef: i'm going to have to decide between the both of you. i'm just letting you know. basta one has to leave the original group and trade with a person at group 2. kel: but chef, that's why we work so well together is because we compliment each other. luzee: and we respect each others' stations. chef: i know. and i know that you're also great working alone. i'm sure the person i'll transfer will be of great help to the group. luzee and kel: ugh. luzee: sige, bahala na.
both luzee and kel leave chef gino... kel (whispering to luzee): luz....... luzee: yeah? kel (still whispering): ikaw na lang.... pag ako ang pumunta sa group 2, mag-uupakan lang kami diyan ng isang tao. luzee: WAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!!!
